Coronavirus

Shameful

The Trump administration messing with the CDC, messing specifically with their scientists' guidance on Covid, that's very bad. That is terrible, the way they have sabotaged our own government's most important assets for fighting this pandemic that's killed 200,000 of our fellow Americans. But you know what? That's what the Trump administration has been like.

What is worse is the CDC acceding to this interference, letting it happen.

68,961 and counting

68,961 deaths. In less than six weeks. Let that number set in.

Our two bowling leagues has been cancelled. Our favorite Mexican restaurant, Ricardos, is closing their doors after 40 years as they can’t figure out how to exist with the new rules restaurants have to abide by to reopen.

They would need put up plexiglass partitions between each booth, along with other things that I guess are too cost prohibitive. They are probably a long list of others that aren’t going to open when and IF they get the order.

I wrote this blog yesterday, but hadn’t published it yet. Tonight we went to Ricardo’s and got some take out, and I picked up a nice collectible

Ricardo’s Swag

Some states are reopening when they shouldn’t Protests in Huntington Beach, CA as Gov. Newsum closed the beaches.

Our golf course here at Rhodes Ranch opened up yesterday. It was closed for about a month.

Oh, and I decided to stop shaving. This is me after 12 days.

Corona Virus

So this corona virus pandemic is getting pretty real. All MGM properties are closed here in Vegas. The National parks are starting to close, a lot of businesses are working from home, self quarantine is happening and the elderly are very susceptible. We’ve stopped taking Phil out with us to events.

Our Tuesday night bowling league has been cancelled for at least 2 weeks, I’m assuming it will happen to our Wed night league.

All sports have postponed. The Kings were on a 7 game winning streak and their game was the last game. NBA had cancelled all of their schedule as one of the UTAH Jazz players tested positive for the virus. MLB pre-season baseball cancelled right after the NHL cancelled their season.

Pretty scary stuff.

No Il Volo concert!

I had bought tickets in December to the Il Volo concert which was at the Pearl concert theatre at the Palms hotel in Casino. It was for Sunday night.

They individually participated in a talent show on Rai 1 called “Ti lascio una canzone,” which translates into “I’ll leave you with a song.” During this program they were noticed by Michele Torpedine  (a well-known Italian manager who has managed the careers of successes like Andrea Bocelli, Zucchero, Giorgia, and Biago Antonacci).  Torpedine decided to take the singers under his wing and embark on an international artistic journey relying on the boys’ vocal talents singularly as well as a trio.  From this point, an extraordinary journey began that would make them the first Italian artists in history to sign a contract with a major American music label.  Their self-titled debut album, “Il Volo,” received Platinum certification and made it to the Top Ten in the Billboard charts.

We saw them for the first time at the Dominican Republic club that we belong to. There was a free concert outdoors, which was a dvd of one of there earlier concerts. It is a 3 Tenors like group, and sounded awesome. We saw them twice in Denver, but they had never been in Vegas until they scheduled their show, which was to be their last American city on their concert tour.

They had two shows in CA prior to this last shpw, and the show in Santa Clara was cancelled on Wednesday last week due to the Corona virus outbreak that happened world wide. The trio were anxious to get back to their hike country or Italy, since that country was especially hard hit, and is facing many deaths and quarantine due to the virus.

They had another concert scheduled for Friday night in Fresno, and that was cancelled too, and I knew that they would cancel the one here in Vegas too. It was a shame, as they don’t come to America that often to play, so I guess we’ll just have to watch their DVD.
