Visiting the Grandkids

Had a nice visit at Jenn’s. We went there from Saturday till Thursday the 3rd. It is nice to go hang out there, and gives Irene a much needed break. Here’s some photos from that trip. They love playing in the backyard with the hose.

We took some nice pictures with them, (see below) but after we sat on the couch and took the photos, Sophia wanted to pose some more on the fireplace. She’s such a ham!! xo

Pool Time With The Grand kids

The grand kids came out for 4 days, and we went to the pool today.

Sure is nice having them around. Just love being around them. Sophia didn’t seem to mind the water, and Derek is doing much better. Ryan is a little fish in the water.

Back from Cambria, Uncle Eliot

Well we had a real nice time in Cambria visiting with Elliot and Rob.  We got to Cambria just in time too as Robbie called when we were turning on the street to the hospital saying Elliot was being released right then.  So we got there to basically take him out to the car and drive up to Elliots house in Cambria.   Our hotel rooms that we rented was in San Luis Obisbo near the hospital and the Madonna Inn, so we quickly cancelled that room and tried getting a hotel room covered with our 'points' near Cambria, but they didn't have any available.  It was spring break week up there so a hotel near the ocean was not going to be cheap.  Luckily Rob works as an auditor in one of the hotels so we were able to get the employee rate for 2 rooms (one was ocean front!)  so that was real nice.

Saw lots of California poppies on the road driving up there, but not a lot of wildflowers yet.  Probably bout a month too early. With all the driving didn't get to play golf.

Janis took this when I slowed down on the side of the road - great shot Janis!

On the way home from Cambria we stopped at Casa De Carlos, where Janis' family has been eating for 40+ years.  It was Phil's birthday on Friday so for his birthday dinner we took him there after a 5 hour drive from Cambria.  The owner now (son of the original owners) was there which was a nice surprise as Larry usually works at the Chatsworth location instead of the the Woodland Hills location which was down the street from Janis' family house when they lived there.

By the time we got back from Woodland Hills and dinner which started @ 8:45pm, we got back to Solana Beach at 12:20 am!

Leaving for Denver

Flying out today to go home and play with our cats : )  6 whole days in this beautiful 75/81 degree weather is making me long for home so bad.   I called this place home for 48 years but this ain't home to me no more.

Time for a little Rocky Mountain High!

I love my family and friends, and miss the ocean a lot, but sure is nice to not have to fight traffic every time you go someplace.

R.I.P Uncle Jim

My Uncle Jim passed away today in Boston Mass..  He will be sorely missed by everyone that knew him.  He was a great person and wonderful father and grandfather and Uncle.  And a friend to everyone who knew him, as no one had anything bad to say about Jim Perry.

I took my mom out to Boston for the funeral, and we got to spend some time with Marguerite.  Marguerite is the oldest sister and oldest sibling, and is in a nursing home suffering from Alzheimers.   She was so happy to see us and recognized my mom right off, which was wonderful (for both of them).

Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo!

Went to the "granddaddy of them all" the Cheyenne Frontier days rodeo yesterday.  My brother Jack is out here from Texas and he loves Trisha Yearwood so we took him for his birthday present.   We  had standing room only seats so were only about 15 people deep from the stage.    Our feet were so tired after standing for 4.5 hrs straight on the dirt infield of the track.

Prior to that we SAT (thank god!) in the stands and watched the rodeo for a bit.. I got some GREAT photos of that which was surprising since we were sitting so far away in the grandstands.

Cheyenne is about 85 Miles north of us.

Steve Mullen

Haven't been on here much as I 've been busy up in Santa Barbara.  My older brother Steve is in the hospital with Leukemia.  He's battling it but it seems to be bigger and stronger than he is.   Get well soon Steve!!

Anyone that comes on here that knows Steve or wants to leave a message of support can post it at his message board which is at www.carepages.com  - his site is SteveMullen

He's been in the hospital since May24th and still hasn't started chemo yet - He has a real bad infection in his colon and they are trying to clear that up before they start chemo as his white count is down to 300-400 and risk of infection is very high.
