Janis had been sick for the past week, since we've gotten back from Vegas, and we're leaving on Saturday for Los Angeles, so we were running out of time to go shoot foliage before it left us. We drove west to RIFLE, which is about 230 miles from home, and stopped at the Rifle Falls State Park, which has 3 waterfalls cascading down a cliff.

then we stopped over by Eagle River and took some photos near Eagle, CO

Janis found a squirrel that was hanging precariously on a branch and while I was trying to change lenses to get
a good photo of it, the squirrel moved down the branch to basically try to conceal itself from me.

The foliage was better this year than last year when we went to Aspen, but that was later in the year. Next year
we're going to have to do more than a 1 day trip, that was a lot of driving today!

Yesterday I was priveleged to shoot a ribbon cutting ceremony @ Cargill Inc. up in Fort Collins. They enlarged their plant there and it was an incredible day! They produce Canola plants which gives us Canola oil, which gives us McDonalds, Oreo Cookies, Cheerios, and lots of other products!!

Yesterday went over to Broomfield to look for eagles by Standley Lake. I found a nice one sitting in a tree there. Its a shame as Phil adn Bobby Janis' parents were here last week and Phil was dying to see an eagle.  We looked everywhere but we didn't come here, and a week later there was a real nice one that he could have seen.

What a sky last nite - and the amazing thing is that it was gone in about 5 minutes. All the clouds built up to the east of us and after about 15 minutes we had a good lightning storm for about an hour.
